Jamestown man faces drug charges after a drug raid

At 11:15 a.m. Thurdsay, Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office narcotics investigators and the FBI executing a search warrant at 250 Schuyler St., Apt. 10, Jamestown. While conducting surveillance on the location, police report Vaughn R. Grant left the building in a vehicle. Members of the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force and Jamestown Police Department K-9 Unit conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle Grant was occupying. The Jamestown Police Department SWAT Team then made entry into the apartment.

There was nobody located inside the apartment at the time. A search of the residence and vehicle revealed a quantity of 638.23 grams of methamphetamine, 188.2 grams of crack cocaine, 3.5 grams of MDMA, three loaded pistols, one loaded AR-15 rifle, ammunition, scales, packaging materials and $14,763 in cash. One of the pistols that was located in Grant’s apartment was recently reported stolen by a Jamestown resident. Grant is also allegedly a convicted felon who is not legally allowed to own or possess firearms.

The joint investigation resulted in federal charges against Grant, according to a police report, for for possessing 50 grams or more of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute them along with federal statutes of unlawfully possessing firearms in furtherance of drug trafficking crimes. He will be arraigned by a federal court magistrate in the United States District Court for the Western District of New York.

The Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force was assisted by the FBI, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Investigators, Jamestown Police Department SWAT Team, Jamestown Police Department Patrol Division, Jamestown Police Department K-9, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office K-9, Dunkirk Police Department, Jamestown NY Fire Department Local 137, and Chautauqua County Emergency Services.
