The incumbent state representatives for Chautauqua County will both return to office.
On Tuesday, state Sen. George Borrello, R-Sunset Bay, and Assemblyman Andy Goodell, R-Jamestown, both were re-elected to their respective offices.
Borrello, who ran on the Republican and Conservative lines, was well on his way to defeating challenger Daniel Brown, who ran on the Democratic line, for the 57th Senate district. With 170 of 268 districts reporting, Borrellow had a 70% to 26.6% lead. The remaining 3.4% were blank, void or write-in candidates.
Borrello’s current district includes all of Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Allegany counties, as well as parts of Livingston County. Starting Jan. 1, 57th district will include all of Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Wyoming, and Genesee counties, as well as part of Allegany county.
Goodell, who ran on the Republican and Conservative lines, defeated challenger Sandra Lewis, who ran on the Democratic line, for the 150th Assembly district. Unofficially, Goodell received 30,587 votes while Lewis received 11,567 votes.

This is the third time Borrello has won an election to the state Senate and the sixth time Goodell has won the seat for the state Assembly.
Borrello was first elected in 2019, following the resignation of Catharine Young, who stepped down in the middle of her term after she accepted a position with Cornell University’s AgriTech campus in Geneva. While in the state Senate, she served beginning in May 2005, following the death of Patricia McGee, who died in office.
Goodell was first elected in 2010, taking over after William Parment, a Democrat who served from 1983-2010. Parment chose not to run for re-election after Goodell announced he was challenging the incumbent.
Both Borrello and Goodell previously served as Chautauqua County executive. Borrello was in the office from 2018-19, while Goodell served from 1990-1997.
