Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Board of Realtors recently held a food drive to benefit the clients of Fred Basket. In conjunction with FeedMore WNY, the Fred Basket food pantry works to support the needs of folks living within the boundaries of the Fredonia Central School District and the 14063 ZIP code. Fred Basket depends upon monetary gifts and donations of food from local citizens as well as the food drives sponsored by the Board of Realtors, the drive Basil Motors held over the summer, the United States Postal Service’s Spring Food Drive, and the upcoming Fill the Fred Basket (formerly Feeding Fredonia Challenge). The clients the pantry serves have also benefited from the weekly fresh produce Maggetti Farms has faithfully supplied throughout this growing season. Currently the pantry is averaging over 75 households a month in need of food assistance. Fred Basket is located at Fredonia Presbyterian Church, 219 Central Ave. Basket hours are every Wednesday from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. and 10 a.m. to noon the third Saturday of every month.
