Two injured in south county blaze

JAMESTOWN – Two people were injured as Jamestown Fire Department crews contained a blaze to the second floor of a city building Tuesday. According to officials, firefighters were dispatched to 40 W. Eighth St. for a reported structure fire at 7:51 a.m. Upon arrival, firefighters saw smoke and flames venting from the second floor in the rear of the building. Crews used a hand line and made entry through the front door. Firefighters then used a nearby hydrant to contain the fire to the second floor. Randolph budget defeated, other plans pass

Randolph Central School officials will have to decide how to proceed after voters overwhelmingly defeated the district’s proposed 2026-27 school budget. The $27,021,901 budget, which came with a 19.27% increase in spending and a 39.75% increase in the district's property tax levy.
