Few contested local races as Election Day nears

While national and state races are dominating the airwaves, there are some local elections that Chautauqua County residents will participate in, most of which are unopposed.
COUNTY RACES
On the county level, the only seat up is for sheriff. Jim Quattrone is running for re-election unopposed.
For county legislature, there are two open seats, one of which is contested. John Penhollow and Barbara Colt are both running for District 7, which includes the towns of Stockton, Portland and a portion of the town of Chautauqua. Penhollow was appointed to the seat after Mark Odell resigned. Because Odell resigned in August of 2021, there was not enough time to have that seat contested last year. Penhollow is running on the Republican and Conservative lines while Colt is running on the Democratic and Working Families lines.
