Two were taken by ambulance to Westfield Memorial Hospital for minor injuries driving into a tree around 6:35 p.m. Sunday in the town of Portland, according to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office. The car, driven by 27-year-old Travis S. Worden of Silver Creek, exited the road near 6448 Route 20 and struck the large tree off the north shoulder. After an investigation, Worden was charged with moving from lane unsafely and operating without insurance. His passenger, Katelyn M. Smith, 28, of Westfield, was issued a ticket for permitting without insurance. Portland Fire Department assisted on the scene.
