Dunkirk hires Barton and Loguidice to assess brownfields
Dunkirk has hired a Buffalo firm to assess its brownfields.
The Common Council authorized Barton and Loguidice “to conduct environmental site activities,” according to the resolution it passed this week.
The work will get paid for through a federal Environmental Protection Agency grant of $300,000.
Councilwoman Nancy Nichols asked City Planning and Development Director Vince DeJoy how many parcels would get covered. He estimated 27, though he stressed that depended on preliminary environmental site assessments.
Tuesday’s resolution states the city government chose Barton and Loguidice from eight bids.
The company will “inventory, characterize, assess, and conduct cleanup planning and community involvement related activities … and will report on interim progress and final accomplishments by completing and submitting relevant portions of the Property Profile Form using EPA’S Assessment, Cleanup and Redevelopment.”
