Melody Thomas Scott ‘Thrilled’ To Be At Lily Dale
Melody Thomas Scott has been drawn to Spiritualism since she was a child.
And, she said, she has had the honor of being read by some of the greatest mediums and psychics in the world.
“And oh my god,” Scott said. “I wish for everyone to have readings like I have (had). I always say mediumship and psychics is not a belief, it’s a knowledge.”
Scott, who recently was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2024 Daytime Emmy Awards, is no stranger to Western New York and has a special place in her heart for Jamestown.
On Friday, Scott will welcome Buffalo-based astrologer Cassandra Butler to the Lily Dale Assembly auditorium stage for “Astrology & The Stars With Melody Thomas Scott.” While Butler provides the audience with an understanding of the basics of astrology, Scott will bring in the “stars” as she shares 12 fun stories of Hollywood celebrities she’s encountered over the years-with each star representing a different sign of the zodiac.
“I’m thrilled to appear at Lily Dale. I am all in and whatever they want to show me and do for me, I am right there,” Scott said.
Lily Dale was incorporated in 1879 to further the science, philosophy and religion of Spiritualism. Each summer thousands of people visit for a nine-week season which includes lectures and workshops on mediumship, astrology, spiritualist studies and the paranormal.
Scott is not a disbeliever nor is she a skeptic.
“I don’t shut down my vehicle when somebody is trying to read me. I go with it because that’s the way that you get good readings without actually inserting any information. …So, I suggest to every newcomer just sit quietly and let them (psychics and mediums) talk,” Scott said.
Scott added that she has had great experiences with Tarot Card readers, and several years ago, a woman read Scott’s tea leaves and gave Scott the most incredible reading about future events that didn’t happen until a few years after the reading.
“Every single thing came true,” Scott said.
The Y&R star added that she saw the tea leave reader some years later, and asked her about the reading, and the tea leaf reader told Scott she didn’t remember the reading because when she reads people, she goes into a trance and doesn’t remember any of the readings she has given.
Scott shared one celebrity that she will talk about Friday – Aretha Franklin. She would not divulge any other information.
For her fans, “Always Young and Restless: An Evening with Melody Thomas Scott” on Saturday will be devoted to a retrospective of Scott’s career. She’ll share stories, take questions from the audience and sprinkle in a lot of fun video clips of her early movie career and her 45 years as Nikki Reed Newman on Y&R.
Scott said she loves being on the Y&R, and can’t imagine stopping playing Nikki Reed Newman.
“Playing that same character has been so interesting because she is so diverse and gets involved in so many different types of storylines,” Scott said. “It’s like playing several characters under the guise of one, so you never get bored. It’s one crazy storyline to the next, and I get to be kind of a whole different person. It’s amazing. That can’t happen in any other area of this business.”
Immediately following the stage event, a special VIP gala is planned, where fans will visit one-on-one with Scott with time for a chat, a selfie, and an autographed photo. To guarantee Scott will have individual time with each person, only 65 gala tickets are being sold. As a bonus for those attending the gala, a silent auction featuring several pieces of unique memorabilia donated by Scott, including a The Young & The Restless script signed by several cast members and an iconic wardrobe item worn by her on the daytime drama-will be part of the VIP experience, with all auction proceeds benefiting Lily Dale Assembly. Live music and refreshments will also be included.
“Melody Thomas Scott’s work on The Young and the Restless has been a part of so many people’s lives for so many years. Her coming to Lily Dale Assembly is a great opportunity not just for the Assembly but for the countless people who will be making the pilgrimage here this summer,” said Amanda DeShong, Lily Dale Assembly board president said in a June 27 Post-Journal article.
