3 trustees keep Bird from DPW post

With three village trustees standing against him, and a motion to restore him failing to even get a vote, it appears the tenure of former Fredonia Department of Public Works Supervisor David Bird is finished. Bird now has only one supporter on the board, Trustee Paul Wandel, after Trustee Jon Espersen resigned. The board voted to terminate Bird by a 3-1 vote May 11, while Espersen was out of town, just days prior to his resignation. Fredonia hires four more teachers

The list of new teachers at Fredonia Central Schools next year continues to grow, as several new hires were approved at the latest Board of Education meeting. Alec Chambers was appointed as the district’s newest Mathematics Teacher, while Kayla Orbaker was appointed as Fredonia’s new Spanish Teacher. South Dayton man pleads guilty to enticement, sex with girl

A South Dayton man has pleaded guilty to enticement and having sex with a 14-year-old girl. U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced Thursday that Ronald A. Howard, 59, entered the plea before U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr. It carries a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years in prison and a maximum of life. Between March 16 and April 10, 2024, Howard, then 57-years-old, communicated via text messaging and Snapchat with a 14-year-old female, during which the two engaged in sexual conversation and discussed meeting to engage in sexual activity.
