Fred L. Utegg

Fred L. Utegg, age 85, of Harborcreek, formerly of Ripley, NY, died on Sunday October 7, 2018 at UPMC Hamot. He was born on July 5, 1933 in Ripley, New York the son of the late Herman and Elva (McGill) Utegg. He graduated Ripley Central High School and on September 10, 1953 enlisted into the military. Fred was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Air Force as a Navigation Tech. He was formerly employed by General Electric as a wireman for 26 years and was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club. After retirement, he worked at Benet-wood Apartments in maintenance for several years. He was an active member of the Wesleyville American Legion Post 571, Brotherhood of St. Joseph, Loyal Order of Moose, and the 18 C.Y.S. Club. Fred was an avid Cleveland Indians fan,

enjoyed bowling, and loved spending time with his family, including attending his grandchildren and great- grandchildren’s sporting events. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joan L. (Rizzo) Utegg; son, Dean J. Utegg; granddaughter, Madison “Maddie” Utegg, and several brothers and sisters. Fred is survived by his children, Stephen C. Utegg (Linda) of North East, Mark A. Utegg (Lisa) of North East; and Belinda Mulholland (Timothy) of Dewittville, NY; sister, Eleanor Batts Banes of Ripley; grandchildren, Shawn, Timothy “TJ”, Troy, Jordan, Gregory, Alisha, Joseph, Melissa, Stephen, and Tyler; 15 great- grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Friday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and are invited to attend a funeral service on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Officiating the service is Rev. Phil Johnson. Interment will be held at St. Gregory Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Memorials may be made to the Wesleyville American Legion Post 571, 1917 Eastern Avenue, Wesleyville, PA 16510.
