Robert J. Harris, 86, of Dunkirk died Thursday morning (Oct. 25, 2018) at home.He was born Jan. 8, 1932 in Dunkirk, the son of the late John H. and Ruth (Strubing) Harris. A life-long Dunkirk resident, Robert was a graduate of Dunkirk High School, Class of 1952. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Robert had been employed by Great Lakes Color Printing Corp. as a pressman.A parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, he was also a member of the American Legion Post 62, Dunkirk Historical Society and past Dunkirk City

Historian, and former member of the Frank Acquavia American Legion.Survivors include his wife, Sarah (Valone) Harris, whom he married May 1, 1994; seven daughters, Cheryl Lawhawn of Port Orange, FL, Deb (Mike) Franklin of MA, Pamela (late Paul) Flint-Strom of Dallas, TX, Karen (Dean) Houser of Sinclairville, NY, Katherine (Robert) Cleary of Murrells Inlet, SC, Linda (Chris) Haggerty of Little Valley, NY and Renae (Kevin) Arcoraci of Walworth, NY; one son, Larry (Fran) Flint of Ashville, NY; one sister, Ann M. Bielawski of Nashua, NH; 18 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet Jalsevac.Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass which will be celebrated Monday morning at 10 o’clock in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Full Military Honors will be accorded by the Dunkirk Joint Veterans Council Honor Guard. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
