Joseph S. “Sam” Speziale

He was born Sept. 30, 1935 in Dunkirk, the son of the late Michael and Mary (Scamaca) Speziale. Sam was a graduate of Dunkirk High School, Class of 1953. He was the proprietor of Mark’s Restaurant in Dunkirk and a parishioner of Holy Trinity Church.

An avid golfer, he enjoyed golfing with his friends. Sam was a master gardener who devoted much time tending to his daughter’s memorial rose garden.

Survivors include his wife, Joan C. (Panepinto) Speziale; one son, Paul (Sandra) Speziale of Wilson, NC; three grandchildren, Joseph and Megan Speziale, and Marti Hill; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa A. Speziale, who died Dec. 30, 2011; three sisters, Ann Speziale, Carolyn Terese, and Mary Malta; and three brothers, Leonard, Vincent, and Mark Speziale.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass which will be celebrated Saturday morning at 9 o’clock in Holy Trinity Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leukemia Society. Arrangements are by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
