Charles J. Allesi Jr.

Charles J. Allesi Jr., 79, of Fredonia, NY passed away Tuesday morning, October 31st at Autumn View Manor in Hamburg, NY surrounded by his loving family. He was born November, 18th, 1943 in Dunkirk, the son of the late Charles and Carmella (Conti) Allesi.

He graduated from Fredonia High School in 1962. He enlisted in the Navy and served 2 years active and 2 years reserves aboard the destroyer U.S.S. Kretchmer and protected our waters during the Cuban Crisis, Bay of Pigs.

He worked his way from Janitor to second in command at the Dunkirk Steam Station, retiring after 33 years of dedicated service as Maintenance Manager.

Chuck golfed for 55 years, holding membership at Shorewood Country Club, Hillview and Chautauqua and enjoyed golf trips with his buddies across the country and Canada.

Chuck was an avid lifetime fan of the Buffalo Bills, New York Yankees and Buffalo Sabres. He also was very active in playing sports, baseball, basketball, football, bowling, enjoyed hunting and fishing and traveling most of the United States and so many island vacations with his wife, Donna, especially winters in Naples, Florida at their son Chuck’s home.

Chuck also dedicated his life coaching for 5 decades with the local youth involved in Midget League, football, baseball and basketball. He loved playing cards with his cronies and having coffee with his retired buddies Chuck was Allesi “tough”and fought so hard to remain with family as long as he could, then was welcomed into his Mother’s arms in God’s house. He was a rare gem and giving all he had without question.

Survivors include Donna (Tucker) Allesi, his loving wife, whom he married March 6, 1965, his awesome children, Joseph (Kathy) Sasso of Garnet, PA , Tammy Allesi, Fredonia, Charles (Melanie) Allesi of Hamburg, And 6 devoted grandchildren who all adored their ‘Pa,’ Dylan Charles Allesi, Buffalo, Noel Marie Allesi, Buffalo, Alexander Charles Allesi, Hamburg, Charlie David Allesi, Hamburg, Lauren Sasso, Charleston, SC, Julia Sasso, Charleston, SC and dear brother, whom Chuck trusted with his life, Sam (Janet) Allesi, Fredonia; many nieces, nephews and cousins and a true friend, Denicia Marie Pierre Louis, Florida.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his baby sister, Carmella, sister Rose Marie Spann, who passed away November 4th, 2023 and her husband, Anthony J. Spann who passed away at 100.

Chuck’s celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 11th, at 11:00 am at Harvest Chapel Free Methodist Church, 39 Matteson Street, Fredonia, NY. A luncheon will follow at the church. There will be no prior visitation. Full Military honors will be accorded by John W. Dill American Legion Post 434, Brocton, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
