Lorenzo Ruia

He was born in Phoenixville, PA on November 8, 1967, the son of Arlene (Teas) Ruia, of Cassadaga and the late Alberto Ruia.

Lorenzo was a graduate of Waterville Central High School in Waterville, NY, Class of 1985. He worked as a Corrections Officer most of his life and retired from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department while working at the jail in Mayville in 2019.

He enjoyed working on the computer and technology, and loved to read.

Survivors include his wife Michele L. (Menshel) Ruia, of Forestville, whom he married on September 15, 2001, in Collins, NY; three daughters, Megan Thompson and Zach, of Hamburg; Heather Ruia, of Hamburg; Erica Ruia, of Rome, NY; two sons Ryan Ruia and Jill, of Syracuse; Matthew Thompson, of Forestville; a sister, Laura (Steve) Wintersteen, of Cassadaga; a brother, Dante (Kerry) Ruia, of Deansboro, NY. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

There will be no services observed at this time.

The family suggests memorials may be made to the ALS Association, Upstate NY Chapter 135 Old Cove Road, Suite 213, Liverpool, NY 13090.
