Michael E. Nickerson
Michael E. Nickerson
Michael Edward Nickerson, age 66, of Cassadaga, New York, gained his wings on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Brooks Memorial Hospital.
Michael was lovingly raised by his parents, Lawrence Nickerson and Donna (Nickerson) Bull. He was also blessed with the love of Donna’s husband, remarrying after Lawrence’s passing, Allison Bull, who loved him as his own.
Known to most simply as “Nick,” he was much more than a name to those who loved him – he was a father, grandfather, brother, friend, builder, mechanic, outdoorsman, and one-of-a-kind soul who left his mark on everything and everyone he touched.
Nick had a gift for working on anything with a motor. Whether it was a motorcycle, a vehicle, a machine, or something most people would have given up on, he had a way of figuring it out, fixing it, improving it, and making it his own. He was a true mechanic at heart – talented, hands-on, creative, and never afraid to get his hands dirty. He loved building things, working on motors, and bringing life back to the thing’s others may have overlooked.
He had a deep love for anything Harley-Davidson, and his custom-built motorcycle was truly a part of who he was. Built by his own hands, it carried not only his craftsmanship, but a piece of his story – including a pin from his femur following a car accident and fracture. It was more than a motorcycle; it was a reflection of his strength, resilience, creativity, and the way he turned even the hardest chapters of life into something uniquely his.
Nick loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, watching for bald eagles, and spending time in the places where he felt most himself. He lived life with grit, humor, independence, and his own unmistakable style.
Everyone who knew Nick knew that he had a way of putting his own spin on life. Around his family and friends, it became known as “Nicker-izing”- taking something ordinary and making it uniquely his.
He had the best and most contagious laugh, the kind that could fill a room and make everyone around him laugh right along with him. And when he was really on a roll, he would make a wing with his arm, flap it, and proudly chant, “Nick, Nick, Nick, Nick!” – a memory that will forever bring smiles to those lucky enough to have witnessed it.
Whether through his words, his ideas, his projects, his laughter, or the way he saw the world, Nick made life more interesting, more memorable, and more his own.
Above all, Nick loved his children, creating memories, building things with them, and his grandchildren. His family was his legacy, and the love, lessons, stories, and memories he leaves behind will continue to live on through them.
Michael is survived by his children, Krista Nickerson (Matt Cassatt) of Fredonia NY, Kyle and Kelsey Nickerson of Sinclairville, NY, Angela Nickerson (Jacob Taylor) of Buffalo, NY and Michelle Nickerson (Michael Caraballo) of Shirley, New York; his grandchildren, Caleb Boyland, Stella Nickerson, and Jax Nickerson; his siblings, Eric Nickerson (Karen) of Boise, Idaho, and Sandra (Dennis) Warner of Conway, South Carolina; along with many family members and friends who will miss him deeply.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Donna Nickerson
There will be no public viewing or service. Arrangements are being handled by Jordan Funeral Home.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date this summer to honor Nick, celebrate the wonderful man he was, and remember the legacy he leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michael’s memory to the Cassadaga Volunteer Fire Department.
Nick’s life was one that cannot be summed up in a few words. He was strong, skilled, funny, stubborn in the best ways, deeply loved, and truly unforgettable. His memory will live on in every story told, every engine started, every ride taken, every bald eagle soaring overhead, every campfire shared, every laugh that echoes in our hearts, and every life he helped “Nicker-ize” along the way.
