Zaida Figuera passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at the Chautauqua County Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Dunkirk, NY, after a long illness. Born February 25, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Ponas Mendoza and Olva Sanchez. Her early years were spent in the picturesque town of Juncos, on the Eastern side of Puerto Rico, where she received her upbringing, education, and started her family. She emigrated to the Mainland with her son, Carlos Figueroa, her devoted caregiver, and spent her later life in the Dunkirk and Fredonia area. Aside from her local son, she is survived ...

Dennis P. Swingle, 75, of Dunkirk, passed away Monday, August 24, 2026 at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Amherst, NY. Born in Dunkirk on July 16, 1951, he was the son of the late Donald R. Swingle Sr. and Angeline (Paternosh) Swingle. A lifelong resident of Dunkirk, Dennis attended Dunkirk High School. He had a lifelong passion for cars and took great interest in classic sports cars.
