Many lend hand, paw for Woofstock
Raise your paw if you had a good time at Woofstock!
The Lakeshore Humane Society would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of this year’s Pat McGee Memorial Dog Walk and Woofstock festival.
Dozens of dogs and their proud owners strutted their stuff around First Ward streets in Dunkirk, enjoying the breeze and one another’s company. (The dogs may have hurried a bit; they could smell hot dogs cooking at the finish line.) Despite the wind and rain that rolled in later in the afternoon, plenty of folks and their four-legged family members got their fill of delicious snacks, groovy tunes, and family-friendly activities.
Big thanks go to Officer Brian Dietzen and K9 Gunny for leading the pack and for the awesome skills demonstration, to Mayor Wilfred Rosas for always being a friend and supporter of LHS, to the Dunkirk Police Department for the safe walking route, and to the animal-loving community who continues to show LHS and its residents love year after year.

“Zoomies” for all of the spectacular dogs and their owners who participated in the dog walk, the folks who attended the festival, and the vendors who helped make the day great! Without the attendees, the event would have no wiggle in its rear end. Michelle Bradley was the walker with the highest amount of pledges, bringing in a whopping $610 for the shelter! Thank you, Michelle!
The Lakeshore Humane Society is an all-volunteer animal rescue organization that relies entirely on donations, grants, and fundraisers. LHS takes in unwanted and stray dogs and cats in the area and gives them medical attention, nutritious meals, safe and engaging play time, and most of all, love and friendship, so they can find new “furever” homes. If you are interested in adopting an animal, becoming a volunteer, or just checking out the facility, visit on Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m. or Saturday afternoons from noon to 3 p.m. during open house hours. Come get rescued at LHS!
