Help bring the trees back to Point Gratiot

Stumps litter Point Gratiot after crews took down numerous trees due to the damage done by the Emerald Ash borer.

“Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago”

As many of you are aware, the trees at Point Gratiot were decimated by the Emerald Ash Borer. Revitalize Dunkirk is making a hero’s effort to re-plant the Point. Let’s Help Them! I contacted Revitalize Dunkirk to see how we can help. Their response:

“Revitalize Dunkirk will gladly accept donations earmarked for trees at Point Gratiot with the understanding that we cannot take special requests regarding species and planting sites. Our volunteers consult with city DPW employees and experts from several agencies to make those decisions.

Donors should understand that survival of trees cannot be guaranteed. Reasonable precautions will be taken, but tree loss can occur due to deer browsing, insects, mower damage, weather events, etc.”

To make a donation for tree planting at Point Gratiot, send checks to: Revitalize Dunkirk, Inc., PO Box 107, Dunkirk, NY 14048 Memo line: “Point Gratiot trees”

Can you help? Throw a few dollars in an envelope and send it off to Revitalize Dunkirk. Drop them a check. Volunteer to assist in planting. Let’s show our love for the Point.
