Are we really discontent with Congress?

Editor, OBSERVER:

If you are satisfied with the job Congress is doing, you should probably stop reading this.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results.

Do you realize that, despite approval ratings that barely reach double digits, we send well over 90% of our representatives in Congress back to Washington every election? What does that say about us? As we approach the next “most important election in our history,” maybe it’s time to reverse course.

We deserve the government we have, we the people keep putting the same folks in office, then spend the next few years complaining about the job they are doing, or aren’t doing.

Would you frequent a business if one out of 10 customers recommended it? Of course you wouldn’t, it would be ludicrous. Yet that is precisely what we do as a voting public year after year in a vicious cycle. We can end this cycle, you and I and our fellow countrymen. Its time to realize that a peaceful revolution is what is needed to get our country back on track, a revolution at the voting booth. Please seriously consider your vote this year. Don’t just vote for a candidate because there is a D or an R by his or her name. It is the only way we can really change the course we are currently on.
