Barone’s Liquor Store Inc. in Silver Creek is celebrating its 50th birthday this month. The business, which opened in 1948, has survived to become a prime supplier of adult beverages, said current owner Jack Chiappone. Originally two businesses — a liquor store and bakery — Barone’s has grown into a spacious store. Mr. Chiappone was born and raised into the business as his parents had run a grocery store and liquor store in Angola. After retiring from banking, he decided to go into business for himself and is enjoying his time at the store.
