Thirty years ago — 1989

When the Holy Rosary Society of St. Hyacinth Church held its final meeting for the 1989 year, the group welcomed Josephine Kuzma as a new member. She joins her sisters, Mary Dworak, Genevieve Mleczko and Nancy Woloszyn and it is believed this is the first time in the history of the society that four sisters have been members.

Forty years ago — 1979

A 19-year-old youth from Perrysburg, who grows a wide array of produce and sells the surplus at roadside stands has been named one of eight national winners in the 4-H gardening program. Karl Stang of Route 39, Perrysburg received a $1,000 scholarship at the 58th National Congress in Chicago. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Werner Stang, Karl graduated from high school last spring and is currently engaged in farming.

Fifty years ago — 1969

Dr. Donald G. Corter, a Fredonia native, will be assuming the dental practice of Dr. Donald G. Seydel, 1 Holmes Place, Fredonia, around the first of the year. Dr. Seydel is retiring.
