Thirty years ago — 1990

Longtime Dunkirk educator Miss Ann M. Weber, 93, of 53 Seel Acres, Dunkirk died today. A former administrator of School 4 and teacher at Dunkirk schools, Miss Weber devoted 50 years of service to the youth of Dunkirk. She was also honored with the “Religious Educator of the Year Award” from the Diocese of Buffalo, which was presented to her by Bishop Edward Head.

Forty years ago — 1980

Recently honored at a family dinner at the Cassadaga Community Baptist Church was Miss Margaret Derby. A retired teacher in South Dayton and Frewsburg school districts, Miss Derby has been a member of the Baptist Church for 57 years, serving as librarian and Sunday service greeter.

Fifty years ago — 1970

The Naval Reserve-Naval Militia division at Dunkirk has been awarded the Josephthal trophy for outstanding performance in the New York Naval Militia for the fifth consecutive year.
