Thirty years ago — 1990
Carol Peterson of Dunkirk “wants to shout” about her being chosen as one of five finalists to sing at a Buffalo Bills game at Rich Stadium for the 1990-91 season. On June 29, she was notified by 97 Rock in Buffalo that she was one of five finalists (the other four are men) and was invited to the Taste of Buffalo for a final audition. She will sing on the M&T Stage on Delaware Avenue.
Forty years ago — 1980
This year’s Miss Universe contest is of special interest to the Robert Barnes and Robert Best families of Fredonia. Miss Sweden, Eva Anderson, was an exchange student and attended Southwestern High School during the 1978-79 academic year. She resided with the Frank Smith family in Lakewood. The Barnes and Best families are friends of the Smiths.
Fifty years ago — 1970
Thomas M. Woodcock, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Woodcock of West Main Road, Fredonia, has begun his medical internship at New York Hospital.
