Thirty years ago — 1990

Dunkirk Mayor Greg Krauza made a whirlwind one-day trip to Washington, D.C., to promote a proposal for a local zebra mussel research program and to check on the possibility of obtaining extended unemployment benefits for workers who lost their jobs earlier this year when the Great Lakes Color Printing plant closed in Dunkirk.

Thirty years ago — 1980

When he’s not behind the pulpit, he’s behind the wheel. Father Mike Juran of Hamburg is a Roman Catholic priest and a hell driver. A priest for the Diocese of Buffalo, Father Mike also drives with the Joie Chitwood Auto Thrill Show that is featured annually at the Chautauqua County Fair in Dunkirk. He works with the show about four weeks during the summer and some extra days in the fall.

Mr. and Mrs. Salvatore Tabone, formerly of Douglas Street, Fredonia are now residing at their new home at 26 Woodward Drive, Fredonia
