The “Citizens for Sports” has now been formed after a large turnout of residents gathered to discuss how to fund interscholastic sports in the Fredonia Central School District for the 1990-91 school year. The Fredonia All-Sports Booster Club does not have the means to raised the needed funds. In order to fund an austerity sports budget, $37,000 would have to be raised through donations with another $8,500 from fees charged at sporting events this year.

She also gives meticulous care to her rose bushes, hedges and vegetable garden and until recently pruned her various fruit trees. Who is this ambitious woman? Her name is Carrie M. Vircant of 31 Howard St., Dunkirk, and she’s no ordinary homemaker. You see, Mrs. Vircant is 94 years old.”
