Retrospective

Thirty years ago — 1990

Five members of the Silver Creek junior varsity football cheerleading squad attended the NCA cheering camp at the State University of New York at Buffalo recently. Merilla DelSorbo, Shannon Mosher, Jennifer Meyers, Jonelle Pagano and Michelle Carpus attended classes and were in competitions, winning several ribbons and a rating of “excellent.”

Forty years ago — 1980

A “Do You Remember?” photo shows the Schafer Auto Garage in 1909 was located on the corner of Wright and Ruggles streets. It was built by Henry Schafer and was Dunkirk’s first fire-proof building. Enclosed in the structure was an elevator to take cars to the second floor. Mr. Schafer was a pioneer auto and motorcycle dealer.

Fifty years ago — 1970

Sp-4 Daniel J. Belmondo, son of Mr. and Mrs. Silvio Belmondo, 38 Central Ave., Brocton was awarded the Bronze Star medal with “V” device while serving in Vietnam.
