Thirty years ago — 1990

Douglas J. Fenton of Dunkirk has been named coordinator of the Dunkirk Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Fenton also serves as the community relations director for Brooks Hospital. Prior to that, he was the managing editor for the former Buffalo Business Journal. He also had worked as the Fredonia-Pomfret reporter for the OBSERVER.

Forty years ago — 1980

A “Do You Remember?” photo taken around 1911 shows the Silver Creek Post Office when it was located on Park Place, presently the site of a barbershop and beauty salon. It later was moved to the corner of Main Street and Central Avenue at the site of the present Citibank and then to its present site in 1935. It was shortly before this picture was taken that home delivery of mail in Silver Creek had begun.

Dr. Wayne F. Warriner Jr. has joined Dr. Josef M. Powell at the Fredonia Animal Hospital, Route 60, Fredonia.
