Thirty years ago — 1990

The Samuel Cimino VFW Post 6472 in Silver Creek is rebuilding its clubrooms after a fire which destroyed the building on North Main Street this spring. The new building will be about the same size as the former clubrooms. A fund drive to assist with the rebuilding is being coordinated by the Silver Creek Overseas Veterans Association.

Forty years ago — 1980

The big winners at Present Co. Grand Opening on Sept. 20 were Juanita Sprague, a diamond wedding set; Barbara Spinuzza, a Hamilton Watch, Anna Bennett, Karen Davis, Ilene Ross and Norine Earnst each won merchandise prizes. The Present Co. Jewelry showroom is located at Bells Plaza, Dunkirk.

Fifty years ago — 1970

Anthony Genovese, son of Mrs. Bessy Genovese of Central Avenue, Silver Creek is the new manager of the Acme market in Fredonia.
