Thirty years ago — 1990

The resignation of Gowanda Junior High School Principal Donald C. Wesley was accepted reluctantly at the recent meeting of the Gowanda School Board. Board President Ann Martindale said, “I hate to read this motion,” before the board’s action to accept the resignation.

Forty years ago — 1980

Fredonia High School’s literary magazine, “The Crucible,” was chosen as one of the top five magazines in the state at the Empire State School Press Association convention. It was given an honorable mention award in the “best magazine” category.

Fifty years ago — 1970

“Poets Interlude,” a collection of 57 simple, rhythmical verses on nature, music, religion and general topics has been published by Miss Gladys A. Bush of Dunkirk
