Thirty years ago — 1990

Dr. Ceila A. Lloyd is now in association with Charles W. Hannum, DDS in the practice of general dentistry at 53 Temple St., Fredonia and will be accepting new patients. Dr. Lloyd received her doctorate in dental surgery in May of this year from the State of New York at Buffalo, School of Dental Medicine. A native of the Philippines, Dr. Lloyd conducted a private medical practice there after receiving a doctorate of dental medicine from the University of the East in Manila in June 1977.

Forty years ago — 1980

The Assembly of God Church is being built on the corner of Allen and Aldrich streets in Gowanda. The Rev. Kenneth Pratt noted the congregation is building with faith instead of a mortgage and its progress is dependent on the amount of money that is available.

Fifty years ago — 1970

The Dunkirk Board of Education has approved the sale of former School 1 to the Dunkirk Urban Renewal Agency. The school, located at East Fourth Street and Washington Avenue, is in a dilapidated condition and is no longer used for classes. The agency is paying the district $42,000 for the structure, which will reportedly be torn down.
