A “Do You Remember?” photo shows the Dunkirk High School Mixed Chorus that sang at the Dunkirk-to-Dunkerque Day festivities in Dunkirk 44 years ago — on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, 1946. The chorus sang the French national anthem. It was a time when Dunkirk and area residents opened their hearts and pocketbooks to help the residents of their war-ravaged sister city in Dunkerque, France.

Mrs. Agnes Peterson of Forestville, art teacher at Fredonia High School, was named “Teacher of the Year” during the fall luncheon hosted by the school’s Parent- Teacher Association. As the 1980 recipient, Mrs. Peterson will receive an engraved pin and have her name engraved in a plaque that hangs in the school lobby. The award presentation was made by Michael James, recipient of a similar honor in 1979.

Two Dunkirk High School seniors have been named to the prestigious All-Western New York Football Team. They are Jerry Campese, a linebacker, and Dave Graf, defensive end. They were among just five unanimous selections from 22 players chosen for the first team. There are reports that many top-ranked “football colleges,” such as Penn State, Notre Dame and Army, are interested in Graf, who is also a first-honors student.
