Thirty years ago — 1991
Tera Trippi, a student at Dunkirk High School, won two awards at the Allegheny Mountain Science Fair at the JCC Center in Olean. She won a $50 third place and received $25 for the Kodak award for having the best photography in the fair. Her project was the effects of road salt on plants. As a part of the Kodak Award, Tera also won a $25 award for Dunkirk High School. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Trippi of West Lake Road.
Forty years ago — 1981
The Gowanda American Legion Post No. 409 celebrated its 62nd anniversary with a special acknowledgment of Legionnaires with 60 or more years of membership. They include Past Commanders Conrad Chapman, Daniel Anderson and Lawrence Briggs and Legionnaires Louis Leisner and John Skoczylas. At 90 years of age, Mr. Skoczylas was the oldest member in attendance.
Fifty years ago — 1971
Sue Hoisington, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hoisington of Commercial Street, Farnham will perform in Europe this summer with the Shenandoah College and Conservatory of Music concert choir. Sue is a sophomore at the college.
