Thirty years ago — 1991

Don Gould of Gould Distributing, 82 Lucas Ave., Dunkirk was recently honored for achieving top sales in an individual market with sales over $25,000 in his first year as a Briar Hill Rustic Furniture representative. The product is white cedar lawn furniture. Gould Distributing also sells Amish furniture.

Forty years ago — 1981

The Dunkirk Urban Renewal Agency approved giving the George H. Graf Co., a 90-day option to purchase the building it occupies at 319 Central Ave. at a price of $70,000. Included in the purchase price is a warehouse the furniture company now rents from DURA on Lark Street.

Fifty years ago — 1971

The Chautauqua County Fair is one of seven Western New York fairs that are expected to receive a 50 percent reduction in their state aid this year. In past years, the fair has received $12,000 which was used mainly for premium prizes.
