Thirty years ago — 1991

Former Dunkirk Mayor Gilbert Snyder will be honored at the annual fund-raising dinner of the Chautauqua County Republican Committee being held at Davey’s Restaurant in Dewittville. Mr. Snyder, according to committee Chairman Warren Gertch, will be recognized for “his long and distinguished service to the party and to the county committee.”

Forty years ago — 1981

Jana Glenzer, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. John Glenzer, had plenty of support from family and friends as she participated in the Miss Pennsylvania Pageant in Altoona. She represented Crawford County after winning a pageant in Meadville last summer. There were 21 young women in the competition and some of the talent was outstanding.

Fifty years ago — 1971

Pfc. Victoria Ostrye, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Ostrye of Forestville, is home on leave after completing women’s Marine recruit training at Parris Island, S.C. She will be stationed at Barstow, Calif., following her leave.
