Thirty years ago — 1991

Freshmart Supermarket, 12 Center St., Fredonia recently celebrated its Grand Reopening under the proprietorship of Gary Damico. Many local dignitaries, Chamber of Commerce officials and friends were on hand for the ribbon cutting. Freshmart is Fredonia’s only supermarket that has been completely renovated.

Forty years ago — 1981

Blue Bird Coach Lines Inc. recently announced the opening of its Fredonia facility located in the former Smith Truck Leasing Corp. terminal at 151 Chautauqua St. in the village. Blue Bird is also providing space at the facility for its sister company, the Blue Bird Cab Co. Inc., for the operation of the Fredonia Central School District student transportation.

Fifty years ago — 1971

This year’s “Silver Creek Festival of Grapes queen is Suzanne Worosz. The young “Lucky 7” Princess is Lisa Hodil. The pageant winners received their crowns from Miss New York State, Elisabeth Condon, during the recent Festival of Grapes festivities.
