Thirty years ago — 1991

Student of the Week is Steve Saller, a senior at Forestville Central School. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Saller of 14 Water St., Forestville, he has a special interest in the operational aspect of video cameras and videotape editing. Steve plays baritone in the high school band, works in the guidance office and participates in the local Civil Air Patrol Unit. He plans on attending college through ROTC and joining the military.

Forty years ago — 1981

Elisa Manzella was crowned homecoming queen of Dunkirk High School during halftime of the Marauders’ game against Salamanca. Her escort was Alex Don. The Marauders made it a sweet homecoming by knocking off previously unbeaten Salamanca, 24-2.

Fifty years ago — 1971

The Rev. William Bailey, chancellor of the Episcopal Diocese of Western New York and former rector of St. Peter’s Church in Westfield, will move to a North Dakota church on Nov. 1.
