Thirty years ago — 1991

The Fredonia Chamber of Commerce has announced the recipients of their annual awards. The Community Service Award went to George Weaver of Weaver Trade LTD. Jack Miller, Founder of Troopers Toys for Tots, was the recipient of the Service to Humanity Award. Business Person of the Year was Nancy R. Palmer of Diversified Financial Services and Robert Scudder of Fredonia Hardware was named Retail Person of the Year.

Forty years ago — 1981

The Rev. Donald S. Fafinski, former director of the Dunkirk-Fredonia Youth Ministry, has been named associate pastor of St. John Vianney Parish in Orchard Park. In a letter of appointment, Bishop Edward Head commended Father Fafinski for his work in youth ministry and his dedication to the priesthood. Father Fafinski also served as principal of the former Cardinal Mindszenty High School from 1978-1979.

Fifty years ago — 1971

Mrs. Norma H. McPhee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Howatt of Chestnut Street, Fredonia has published, “Programs for the Church Year,” a resource manual providing a wide range of dramatic material for all occasions of the church year.
