Whether it’s refinishing furniture, building a house or fixing whatever’s broken, this week’s People in Profile Joseph Gostomski enjoys a challenge. “Whitey” to his friends, he built roads and cabins at Allegheny State Park with the CCC, worked at Alco for 22 years, then was inducted into the Army during World War II. After marrying the former Blanche Marczynski, he not only built his South Roberts Road home himself in five months, he also completely redid the family cottage in Ripley before putting on an addition. The couple is well-known locally for their accomplished ballroom dancing.
