Thirty years ago — 1991
James Paul Edson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Edson of Bates Road, Sinclairville has been named Student of the Week. A senior at Cassadaga Valley Central School, he is a member of the National Honor Society, recipient of a letter of commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Program and is listed in “Whos’ Who Among American High School Students” for three consecutive years. Jim has been selected to attend the National Young Leaders Conference this month in Washington, D.C. He has been named a Congressional Scholar.
Forty years ago — 1981
It is the belief of Ruth M. Bair that pages in a book are “Living Leaves,” the name she has given her new bookstore in the Russo Building in Fredonia. The store is a dream come true for the retired teacher who is a Rochester native. The grand opening was held Dec. 3. Store employees are Laurel Rivers and Patricia Zanghi.
Fifty years ago — 1971
Merritt Howard of Forestville was reelected president and William Bolling of Silver Creek was elected to the board of directors for a three-year term at the recent annual meeting of the New York Hereford Association held in Syracuse.
