Thirty years ago – 1991

An OBSERVER photo shows a vehicle that was the victim of vandalism at 54 West Fourth St. in Dunkirk. It is just one of the casualties of the recent tire-slashing episodes in the city. For the last 72 hours, Dunkirk police have been receiving reports of tire slashings and the total number of vehicles damaged now stands at 45.

Forty years ago – 1981

A brand new place to find the latest in quality western-wear is now open in Dunkirk. The Country Scene is conveniently located at the Bells Plaza and is owned and operated by local folks, Jan and Steve Paprocki. They aim to please and invite everyone to stop by and get acquainted.

Fifty years ago – 1971

Dedication of the high rise apartment building on North Main Street in Dunkirk was held Dec. 2. S. William Green, administrator of the regional office of the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development in New York City, was the guest speaker.
