Thirty years ago — 1991

The Rev. E.G. Waller and the Friendship Baptist Church, 18 East Second St., Dunkirk held a mortgage burning service recently. More than 150 well-wishers from the community attended. Clara Donaldson served as master of ceremonies. The Rev. Reuben Starks of the Good Hope Baptist Church was guest speaker.

Forty years ago — 1981

Art Kubasik rolled his first 700 series this week at Lucky Lanes. Bowling on lanes 19 and 20, he rolled games of 234-246-223 for 703. Art carries a 195 average. This series was bowled in the B II League for the First Ward Falcon team 3. His previous highs were a 250 game and 659 series.

Betty Woloszyn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Woloszyn, 516 Central Ave., Dunkirk and a senior at Cardinal Mindszenty High School, is the Calendar Girl of the Month.
