Thirty years ago — 1992

The Rev. J. Patrick Keleher and U.S. Congressman Amory Houghton will receive the biennial Distinguished Service Award from the Fredonia College Foundation during a May 9 banquet at the Campus Center. Rev. Keleher served as the campus chaplain and pastor of the Newman Center in Fredonia from 1981 to 1988. Amo Houghton is a Republican member of Congress for New York’s 34th District.

Forty years ago — 1982

Carol Boorady, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Edward Boorady, a second-year student at Albany Law School at Union College, ran in the 18.6 mile road race March 21 that began in Schenectady and ended at the State Capitol in Albany. She finished 21st among more than 1,000 runners with a time of 2:25:20

Fifty years ago — 1972

B. Anthony Gary of Dunkirk, a science teacher at Dunkirk High School, has been elected to serve as exalted ruler of Dunkirk Elks Lodge 922 for the 1972-73 year.
