Thirty years ago — 1992
John Fedyszyn, son of John and Darlene Fedyszyn of Fredonia and a junior at Fredonia High School and LoGuidice BOCES, is the Student of the Week. John’s electrical trades teacher, Robert Kaylor, said, “Any project assigned to John is completed in a timely and well-done manner. He has a very good work ethic and will be successful in whatever he does.” He is a letterman in football, a member of the FHS track team and enjoys weightlifting. He also works as an electricians’ helper for his father. John plans to attend college as an electrical engineering major.
Forty years ago — 1982
About 30 balloons were found recently by 5-year-old Krista Webdale, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Webdale of Webster Road, Fredonia. The balloons came from St. Clements School in Toronto where students participated in the “Inner City Angels Balloon Race,” a program to help further children’s participation in the arts. Krista found the bunch of colored balloons in the woods behind her home.
Fifty years ago — 1972
The first public telephone for Dunkirk City Hall has been installed. It is located on the first floor lobby of the building.
