Holy Trinity Parish recently concluded its year-long 75th jubilee celebration with a Mass followed by a dinner and program at Joseph Anthony’s Restaurant in Dunkirk. Joseph V. Damiano was general chairman. The origins of the parish date back to 1908 when property at the corner of Ruggles and Wright streets was purchased for the purpose of building a church for the Italian immigrants who had settled in Dunkirk. The Rev. Vincent Fragomeli, the first pastor, resided in a rented apartment while the church was being built and services were held in a rented room at 84 East Third Street. Built by Sebastian Cirrito and Frank Comello at a cost of $18,000, the first Holy Trinity Church was completed in June 1909 and officially dedicated one month later. The building was primarily wood and brick construction and seated 500 people.
