Thirty years ago — 1993 Bill’s Gun and Saddle Shop on Prospect Road in Sinclairville celebrates its 30th anniversary this month. As part of the festivities, visitors can view displays of antique saddles and various other pieces of horse riding equipment dating back to 1870. This is all part of items the shop owner, Bill Frost, has collected over a 40- year period. Also part of the celebration will be trick roping demonstrations, riding exhibitions and various other events related to horses, guns and roping. Thirty years ago — 1993 The Grand Theater building in Westfield is gone forever after wrecking equipment donated by Nuttall Equipment of Sherman brought the structure down. Volunteers Sam Arnold and Carl Vilardo will now finish clearing the site. Plans were made to purchase and demolish the 50-year-old theater last August by a committee of local citizens. Donations of more than $35,000 from area businesses and residents allowed the village to purchase the theater and adjoining buildings. Thirty years ago — 1993 At ceremonies held at the Murray Hose Co. No. 4 fire hall earlier this month, a plaque honoring the company’s 172 deceased members was unveiled. The names date back to 1906, when the company was founded. Designed by Louis Ziegler, secretary, the plaque was dedicated by the Rev. Thomas E. Crane, pastor of St. Hedwig’s Church.
