Fifth annual Community Hockey Game is Today

On Friday, Sept. 6 at 7 p.m., Community Through Hockey will hold it’s fifth annual Community Hockey Game at the Northwest Arena in Jamestown. This year’s game will benefit 21-month old Luca Carlson from Falconer, who was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome or an undeveloped heart. Admission is free and will feature a basket raffle, large item raffle and 50/50. Since 2015, over $22,000 has been raised for area families and organizations. The community is urged to come out and help make this year’s event the best one yet. Check out “Community Through Hockey” on Facebook for more information.

Lucky Lanes Junior Bowling registration starts this Saturday

Registration for the 2019-2020 season will be held on Sep. 7, Sep. 8, Sep. 14 and Sep. 15 at Lucky Lanes at 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each of those days. You may also register on evenings of Sep. 10, Sep. 11, and Sep. 12 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. All new and returning bowlers must register. The registration fee is $10. Youth bowler ages range from 4 to 20 years-old as of Aug. 1, 2019. Teams may be all boys, all girls, or mixed. Teams will consist of four bowlers. Leagues will start on Sept. 21. All bowlers from age 6 to 20 will have their choice of bowling at either the 10 a.m. or the 1 p.m. shift each Saturday. Bowlers of ages 4 and 5 will participate in the Bumper Buddies league, which bowls at 1:15 p.m. on Saturdays. Bumper Buddies will be teams of two. Gowanda co-ed youth soccer program begins Sunday

The Gowanda Recreation fall co-ed soccer program for students in grades 1 through 8 will begin this Sunday, Sept. 8 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Gateway Park on Palmer Street. There is no cost to attend this program. Bring you own water. Treats will be served at the conclusion of the scrimmage games. Call Recreation Director Mark Benton at 532-4053 for more information.

Fall Prospect Camp set for Sept. 15

The SUNY Fredonia baseball program is holding a clinic for high school players in grades 10-12 on Sunday, Sept. 15 from 11 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at Ludwig Field. The cost of the clinic is $55 per individual, $75 for siblings. Instruction will be given by current coaches and players.

Jamestown Knights 2020 baseball tryouts set for Sept. 15, 29

The Jamestown Knights will be holding 2020 spring/summer travel baseball tryouts open to all players ages 8-12 (as of April 30, 2020) in the Chautauqua County area.

Players born on April 30 or earlier will be considered one year older than players born May 1 or later. The Knights program teaches and instills a love for the game that exhibits the best of what the players can be. Knights players, coaches and organization strive to continuously improve in all aspects of the game with the goal of building the ultimate baseball and experience.

The Knights program includes team gear, including uniforms, helmets and bat bags, as part of the camp fee. Tryouts will be held on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 9:30 a.m. at Bergman park as well as on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 9:30 a.m. at Bergman Park. Al Tech Reunion Golf Tourney set for Sept. 21

Plans are being made for the Al Tech Reunion Golf Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 21, at Cable Hollow Golf Course. The cost is $60, which includes 18 holes with cart at Cable Hollow Golf Course, food at the turn, and dinner at Russell Joy Park Pavilion provided by Super Duper catering. There will be a separate fee of $5 for skins and closest to the pins, payable at the course. Send check payable to Rick Bellando, 24 Westerly Dr. Fredonia, NY 14063, no later than Saturday, Sept. 7.
