Brown wins event as FHS competes at invitational

Fredonia High School’s Emily Brown won the 1,500-meter race as the FHS indoor track team competed Saturday at the Trent Jackson/Cedric Walker Memorial Invitational at SUNY Brockport.

Brown’s time of 5:00.59 represented a personal best, according to coach Tom Stokes.

Lydia Lanski of Fredonia placed second in the 55-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 9.04 seconds, and was seventh in the 200 hurdles (32.69).

Also for Fredonia, Lauren Cluck took fifth place in the shot put with a personal best of 30′ 6.25” and Clair Stokes finished in eight place in the high jump with a top jump of 4’6″.

“The team had a great meet,” Stokes said. “They have been off from competition for over four weeks due to cancellations and meets missed due to the weather, so it was good to get back to competing.”

The next indoor track meet for Fredonia is Saturday at Houghton College, when runners from Section 5 and Section 6 clash in the Border Wars.
