Maple Grove wins in Silver Creek, 5-1

SILVER CREEK — The Maple Grove Red Dragons took a 5-1 road decision over the Silver Creek Black Knights Friday in a CCAA West 1 high school baseball contest.

Darrin Vallincourt struck out 10 batters in six innings of work for Maple Grove (2-1, 2-1). He walked one and gave up four hits. Zak Trim and Jamison Delong each had two singles for the Red Dragons, while Tyler McPherson hit a double.

Tom Galfo took the loss on the mound for the Black Knights (0-4, 0-3). Galfo pitched 4 1/3 innings, giving up nine strikeouts, five walks and three hits.

Maple Grove scored two runs in the third inning, one in the fifth and two in the sixth. Silver Creek’s run came in the third. All of the game’s runs were unearned.

The Knights are back in action Monday in Falconer, while the Dragons host Southwestern that day, as the CCAA West 1 division schedule continues.
