BROCTON — A seven-run, two-out rally in the fourth inning helped drive the Brocton Bulldogs to a 15-8 CCAA West 2 win over the Cassadaga Valley Cougars on Wednesday

Brocton moved its division record to 8-0 on the season and a 10-0 record overall. With Cassadaga Valley at 6-2 in the CCAA West 2 and two divison games remaining for both teams, Brocton has clinched at least a tie for first place.

Bubba Brown was winning pitcher for Brocton, throwing five innings in relief and striking out nine batters. He also had an RBI triple.

Caleb Chelton had a two-RBI single and Charlie Rexford, who went 3 for 3, smacked an RBI single for Brocton. Brown wound up 2 for 4 with two triples.

“We’re playing good baseball and hitting the ball really well. They played completely together today,” Brocton interim head coach Ray Rosas said. “We’re looking ahead to the next level.”

Brocton’s next game is Friday at home against Sherman.

LAKE SHORE 10,

PIONEER 9

ANGOLA — The Lake Shore Eagles had to overcome an 8-0 deficit Wednesday, but did so in nine innings to move to 9-0 on the season.

A five-run fourth inning helped the Eagles erase the big early deficit. The game-winning run came in the bottom of the ninth when jayvee callup Nate Styles was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

Aaron Freeman pitched three innings for the win, striking out five batters. “I never saw him throw so hard in his life,” Lake Shore coach Bob Kowal said.

Bryce Toth was 3 for 3 with a walk for the Eagles, while Jon Wilson had two hits and his 19th run batted in of the season for the team.

Lake Shore plays Iroquois (7-2) in its next two games, on Thursday and Saturday. If the Eagles win just one of the two games, they will be ECIC Division 3 champions.

VALLEY 1

SOUTH DAYTON — The Pine Valley Panthers defeated Cattaraugus Little Valley in a CCAA East 2 game Wednesday.

Corey Ellis got the win on the mound for Pine Valley (3-4, 2-4), pitching 6 2-3 innings and giving up just two hits and one run. He struck out nine batters and walked four.

“Corey pitched phenomenal,” Pine Valley coach Chris Buczek said. “He was on his game and in command. His breaking stuff countered his fastball really well. He did a good job keeping the hitters off balance.”

The Panthers’ Kevin Hunt was 2 for 2 with a walk and double and scored three runs. Stephen Crisanti was 2 for 3 with a triple, and drove in three runs. Ellis, who had a triple, also had three RBI.

“We only committed one error in the field, so as a whole, Pine Valley played good as a team,” Buczek said.

Pine Valley’s next game is a non league game at home against Silver Creek today.

FALCONER 4,

SILVER CREEK 1

SILVER CREEK — Falconer (2-8, 2-7) topped the Black Knights (7-7, 6-6) in a CCAA West 1 game Wednesday.

The Knights, who had just six hits Wednesday, are back in action today at Pine Valley for a non-league game.
