LANCASTER — Fredonia High School’s tennis season finished Wednesday at Lancaster High School in the Section VI playoffs.

Neil Gens lost in the round of 16 to Anthony Martello from East Aurora, 1-6, 6-2, 3-6.

Dan Gifford lost in the round of 16 to Joe Baudo from Williamsville North, 0-6, 0-6.

Max Kinkela and Jimmy Rush lost to Matthew Kovalewski and Victor Benjovsky from Albion, 3-6, 3-6.

Augusto Rodriguez and Trevor Napoli lost to Sam Greco and Steve Quinlivan from Amherst, 2-6, 4-6.

The loss was Neil Gens’ only loss of the season and he finished 14-1 in singles matches.

“I am very proud of my team and the fact that half of our county’s sectional players (six of 12 representatives) were from Fredonia,” stated Lisa Johnston, the Fredonia tennis coach.
